TODAY'sQUOTES
Abraham Maslow's 8 Ways to Self-Actualize

1. Experience things fully, vividly, selflessly. Throw yourself into the experiencing of something: concentrate on it fully, let it totally absorb you.

2. Life is an ongoing process of choosing between safety (out of fear and need for defense) and risk (for the sake of progress and growth): Make the growth choice a dozen times a day.

3. Let the self emerge. Try to shut out the external clues as to what you should think, feel, say, and so on, and let your experience enable you to say what you truly feel.

4. When in doubt, be honest. If you look into yourself and are honest, you will also take responsibility. Taking responsibility is self-actualizing.

5. Listen to your own tastes. Be prepared to be unpopular.

6. Use your intelligence, work to do well the things you want to do, no matter how insignificant they seem to be.

7. Make peak experiencing more likely: get rid of illusions and false notions. Learn what you are good at and what your potentialities are not.

8. Find out who you are, what you are, what you like and don't like, what is good and what is bad for you, where you are going, what your mission is. Opening yourself up to yourself in this way means identifying defenses - and then finding the courage to give them up.

Let's get something straight right now.

You are not:
Your body.
Your job.
Your money.
Your possessions.
Your thoughts.
Your fears.
Your self-image.
A victim.
Other people's opinion of you.

You are:
Love.
A unique expression of the energy of The Uni-verse.
A spiritual being having a human experience.
Creative.
Beautiful.
Connected to abundance, always.
Here to give.

There are TONS of people with LOTS of money who are not happy.
There are TONS of people with NO money who are happy. If you're like me, you want to have  enough money and be happy. To me, that is freedom. To be happy in the world with the freedom to do what I want whenever I want, but also to know that I am in this world but not of this world, and so, not have the world and it's "things" bog me down.
The implications of the statements made above are this: live your purpose, not your fears.

When you live a life and make decisions based on what brings you joy, and then share that joy with others (this is what it means to live your purpose), then things work out. They may get rough at first, or painful (just like pushing out a splinter is painful), but the pain will pass and you will see that you are living a magical life.

If you are not those things listed above and you are the things that are listed, then what would that mean? It would mean that you could cast off the so called "weight of the world", forget about what "other people" think and train your mind and body to rise above your fears. It means that you could take massive action daily towards living your purpose (aka your dreams) and that it would work out.

It would mean that you could face your fears and actually RISE ABOVE THEM by doing so.

It means that you are free to express your love however you feel it should be expressed. It means you have everything you need, and if it is not now here in your life, it will show up exactly when you need it.
See yourself as already connected to everything you desire. You do not need to "create" anything really.

All you have to do is move around what The Uni-verse has already created for you to match your desire. You are lacking nothing; you are connected to everything. Surrender the thoughts of fear, lack and limitation and dive deep into possibility. Live from possibility.

Act from possibility and you will soon experience the impossible as possible. Don't give any attention to what other people think; stay silently true to your dream and let them watch.

Live your life and dreams knowing that some other people won't understand what you are doing, that struggle is really a way for you to become stronger and that anything is possible when you remember who you really are. Let go of who you are not and dwell in possibility.

All my love,

Mastin

We live in a world of instant gratification.

I had a thought yesterday; it was:

"The only unrequited love that truly exists is towards ourselves."

It seems, so much in our lives, we can experience this sense of love unreturned to us by those we want it from.

You're a lover; I'm a lover; we're all lovers here in The Daily Love community. Deep down all we want is to love and be loved in return. That's the true pulse of the human condition.

Regarding, romantic love specifically, I find it funny (and at times SUPER GNARLY PAINFUL) the dance we all dance. It's like Girl A likes Boy B, but Boy A likes Girl A, and Girl B likes Boy A. I know, that confused me, too. I just think it's funny how many times we desire the one that doesn't want us, or that isn't the best one for us. And yet, at the same time, we have little to no interest in people who desire us. This obviously isn't how it always is, but here in Los Angeles, I find this trend running rampant (in my life, too).

It's really easy to get bummed when someone you really like in that way, doesn't like you back in that way. You know what I'm talking about - you desire them and they think of you only as a friend. Yeah - the friend zone. It happens to the best of us, guys and girls. And, not only that, we are also perpetrators of putting people who like us in the friend zone. It's a two-way street.

The key, though, as we dance, is to remember who you are. Unrequited love from someone can be a bummer for sure, but I don't think that actually exists. Why? It's not because I have never been the recipient of unrequited love; quite on the contrary - it's familiar territory (being on both sides, actually).

When we forget to Love Ourselves, when we forget The Uni-verse is on our side and wants us to thrive, when we forget that we are co-creators of our lives with The Uni-verse, then it's easy to feel unrequited love and have it really affect you. But, I believe that the unrequited love we are feeling isn't from the other person who we desire - it's actually from ourselves.

When we love ourselves, we remember that rejection is protection. When we love ourselves we are careful whom we give our hearts to. When we love ourselves, we see every event of our lives as lessons and know that there are no shortages in The Uni-verse. We know that if it doesn't work out with that someone you had your eye on, or that job you really wanted, something greater is on the way.

We love ourselves and are filled with this love; it's nearly impossible to feel unrequited love from someone else. It's only when we have given that person power over our lives and control over our emotional well-bring that we can feel unrequited love from them. Feeling unrequited love from someone is a symptom of low self-esteem and a misalignment with your power.

So, if you're feeling this way, take your power back today. Put your trust in the things that The Uni-verse has in store for you. Let go a little and see what's next. There is no shortage in The Uni-verse. There is someone perfect for you out there and they will find you as you become more and more of your authentic self.

When you are feeling the low vibrations of unrequited love, don't go chasing after it from other people. STOP, check in within yourself and be still. If you seek out the path of trying to fill yourself up from other people or substances, you will only make it worse. Take care of yourself. Do you! Stay in your power and do things that nurture your heart and soul.

This is what I mean when I say, "The only unrequited love that truly exists is towards ourselves." When we love ourselves, we are not seeking others to fill us and we are free to detach and welcome in the perfect person in the perfect time. And in the meantime, we fill ourselves up so that we have the serenity and joy - so we can step into savoring the waiting, instead of dreading it.

Feeling unrequited love today? Take your power back, love yourself and watch it go away.

Love,

Mastin

Detox

Detox Daily For Optimal Health

Would you brush your teeth or shower only once or twice a year?
Assuming your answer is no, then you probably wouldn’t want to cleanse the inside of your body only once or twice a year either. Yet, every spring and fall there are all sorts of sexy short-term detox programs being promoted and cleanses being advertised.
The nice thing about these programs is that you probably lose a few pounds and see what it’s like to really feel good because they often eliminate inflammatory foods.
Unfortunately there is no magic pill, potion or 1 week program that is going to get the job done long term. Detoxing, or cleansing, is something we need to do everyday- just like brushing our teeth.
Toxins that come in daily have got to come out daily. Otherwise they will be stored in our organs, bones and fat tissue, which can lead to an increased toxic body burden. Various types of symptoms and disease can occur once your burden reaches its’ threshold.
Issues you may think are normal like fatigue, weight gain, constipation, allergies, skin problems, moodiness and brain fog can actually be signs of toxicity. This can lead to more extreme conditions like infertility, cardiovascular and autoimmune diseases, cancer, ADHD, Alzheimer’s and Parkinson’s disease.
The good news is that you can decrease your total toxic body load by following these guidelines on a regular basis:
Avoidance
The liver is the main detoxification organ of the body and filters toxins from the blood. So, it is important to avoid substances that compromise liver health such as sugars, refined carbohydrates, alcohol, caffeine and other drugs. It is also important to maintain a healthy weight so that fat deposits don’t accumulate on the liver, a condition known as “fatty liver.”
Avoid tobacco smoke, chemicals from cleaning and personal products, as well as preservatives in cosmetics, which impact hormonal health. Use only natural products on your skin.
Eat Organic Foods
Eat as organic as possible to avoid pesticides, hormones and antibiotics from food.
You could be ingesting 50-60 different pesticides when you consume the following “dirty dozen” fruits and vegetables: Apples, bell peppers, potatoes, celery, cherries, imported grapes, spinach/kale/collard greens, nectarines, peaches, pears, strawberries and blueberries.
The following foods are those you don’t need to lose sleep over if organic is not available: Asparagus, avocados, cabbage, eggplant, kiwis, mangoes, onions, papayas, cantaloupe, watermelon, grapefruit, pineapples, sweet corn, sweet peas and sweet potato.
Follow an anti-inflammatory diet
Follow the anti-inflammatory diet outlined last week and include adequate protein from wild salmon, turkey, beans, raw nuts and protein powders like whey, rice, pea or hemp. Your liver needs protein for efficient detoxification.
Start loving your fruits and veggies! Focus on lots of cleansing green leafy vegetables and cruciferous vegetables (broccoli, kale, cauliflower and cabbage). Try fresh green vegetable juices or powdered greens and include fruits like berries and apples.
Drink green tea, which is full of antioxidants and increases the excretion of fat-soluble toxins.
Hydrate - Drink ½ your body weight in ounces of clean, filtered water to help flush out toxins. Your urine should be light yellow to clear. If it’s darker, you are not drinking enough water. Add lemon or lime to your water to support cleansing.
Eliminate - If you are not having a bowel movement at least once a day, toxins that should be on their way out can be re-absorbed. Increase your bowel function by drinking enough water, eating high fiber foods and exercising. You may need to add a fiber supplement as well as some supplemental magnesium and probiotics if these alone don’t help.
Sweat – Your skin is your largest organ. Sweat regularly with exercise or sauna to help remove toxins through skin.
Breathe – A large percentage of cellular waste is removed via deep breathing. Detoxify AND de-stress with your breath.
Move - Your lymphatic system is basically your body’s sewage system. Unfortunately, it doesn’t have a pump like the blood has the heart. You have to move the body to move the junk out.
I believe yoga is the perfect exercise, combining movement, breath and sweat. A well-balanced yoga class brings circulation to every muscle in your body and helps not only rid only the body of toxins, but also rids the mind of toxic thoughts and worries.
Living a healthy and non-toxic lifestyle can be challenging, and sometimes unhealthy and toxic seem like they can be fun. However, after you follow these principles for a while and start to feel and look great, toxic loses its charm and an after work, yoga class becomes more appealing than happy hour.
And remember, nobody is perfect and you may not be able to follow these guidelines 100% of the time. I personally probably live this way close to 80% of the time and don’t feel guilty when I don’t. Guilt is just another toxic emotion.
Live moderately and be happy.

Carl Jung said it best, "That which you resist, persists."

You have been given a purpose, a vision and intuition by The Uni-verse that is uniquely yours to fulfill.

And, if you're like me, you resist and resist that vision because it's scary, not in alignment with your own plans for your life and out there somewhere in the undefined unknown.

When I moved to LA I wanted to be a big shot in the music business. I looked up to guys like David Geffen, Irving Azoff and Clive Davis. I wanted to be like them - discovering new music, launching multi-platinum acts, winning Grammy's and living the life. I got a taste of that life, but no matter how hard I tried and tried, things just didn't click for me.

All the while a small voice inside me was beckoning me to write, to inspire others. I resisted that voice for so long 'cuz I thought I had nothing valuable to say. I had no idea how I would make money and quite frankly I thought those "inspiring people" were cheesy and mostly hypocrites. I resisted and resisted, for YEARS.

But then, something crazy happened. It all came crashing down. My business partner and I went our separate ways; money seemed to run away from me like I was allergic to it and everything I had spent the better part of 8 years building just stopped.

I finally found myself in a place where I had a choice. I had done enough work on myself to know when this ish hits the fan; it's The Uni-verse stepping in.

My choice was dedicate myself 110% to this hobby called TDL or go back and get a "job" in the music business. I decided to see what the experiment of TDL would bring. I didn't want to die wondering "what if".

But to get me to that decision point, The Uni-verse had to take away everything that wasn't in alignment for my purpose. All the illusions were shattered.

As I was going through this purifying process, I still resisted. I didn't want to be that inspiring guy who said those cheesy things. But then something magical happened.

I started to see how TDL was positively affecting others. Other people were going through what I was going through. Other people were healing, didn't feel alone and felt inspired by TDL.

At that point, I realized what The Uni-verse was trying to show me. My purpose is not to fulfill my own self-will, but to be of service to others. Within a few quick months of understanding that it was no longer about me, miracles started happening faster. Traffic grew, wonderful bloggers started contributing and investors became interested.

I was selfishly denying my purpose. That selfishness is what caused my pain, the lack I experienced and also my sadness. I was so caught up in my own story that I couldn't see past myself.

So, this is the lesson: be of service. Solve problems. Share yourself. Step out of self-will and open yourself up to The Will of The Uni-verse. It will squeeze your ego. It will bring you through the fires of your own fears so that all that is not in alignment with your calling is burned away. But what will be left will be a pristine manifestation of your core essence. Fear will be burned away. Limiting beliefs will be challenged and overcome and you will feel at home within yourself. You will see naysayers as teachers showing you how to believe in yourself even more.

It is our self-will and stubborn selfish ambition that keeps the good stuff out. Ask today for all those illusions to be shattered. Have FAITH that you WILL be provided for during your purification and recalibration.

A decision is not a decision until you take action. What gifts are The Uni-verse asking you to express? Step into those gifts and let yourself be purified through the fire of facing your fears.

A greater life than you can now imagine is on the other side. Don't resist who you really are and who you're being calling to be. Give in, give up and let The Uni-verse show you the way.

Love,

Mastin
